Slowing Down and Finding Inner Wisdom: My September Journey of Journaling and Reflection

As September rolls in, a gentle breeze of change sweeps through the air, signaling the gradual transition into the beauty of autumn. It's a time when the pace of life seems to slow down, inviting us to embrace moments of introspection and self-reflection. This month, my focus is on journaling and seeking inner wisdom as I navigate through the seasonal shift, allowing myself to embrace this slow down and explore my thoughts and emotions. I invite you to travel with me on your own journey so that you may use this time for discovery, self care, and finding your inner peace.

Embracing the Seasonal Slow Down

In a world that often glorifies busyness and productivity, the arrival of September ushers in a much-needed reminder to pause, breathe, and appreciate the simple moments that surround us. As the days grow shorter and the leaves begin their mesmerizing transformation, I find solace in slowing down the pace of my life, allowing myself to savor the beauty of nature's transition. This wasn't always true. In fact, I was not ever a fan of the fall season. Sure there are some memories of leaf piles and pumpkin patches that I love and if I am being honest, it isn't that I don't like fall it is that I know there is a slow down coming. That slow down was difficult for me and meant I had to be with myself more. I was not a fan so I stayed as busy as I could until last September.

Septembers of the Past

Last year the change from the hot August summer to cool mornings of September tapped on my shoulder and asked me to embrace the change and find out what I was trying to push past so vigilantly every autumn. As I journaled, I realized that changing seasons represented to me an end; an end to summer, an end to being outside, and even an end to a lot of activities. In recent years, it also reminded me of the end of some relationships that were so special. I then realized, this feeling felt so final and yet something in me reminded me that this wasn't an end but a change and how I know I love them so much!

The Power of Journaling

Journaling has become my trusted companion on this journey of self-discovery. Through the pages of my journal, I pour out my thoughts, fears, dreams, and aspirations, allowing them to take shape in written words. In the act of journaling, I find a sense of clarity and peace, as if the words flowing from my pen are guiding me towards a deeper understanding of myself. It was because of journaling that I found a way to recognize where my blocks were and are. For me, journaling is awareness! And awareness is power!

Nurturing Inner Wisdom

Amidst the quiet rustle of falling leaves and the comforting embrace of a warm cup of tea, I continued to dive into the realms of my inner wisdom. September, with its golden hues and gentle whispers, serves as the perfect backdrop for me to connect with my intuition and inner voice. In these moments of stillness, I have been able to uncover insights and truths that have been waiting patiently to be discovered. The solution was always there. Change my thoughts! I get to choose how I think about September and the changing of the season. I don't have to think of it as an end to the summer or even an end to the living relationships that I have lost. Or that I have lost anything. I can embrace change! The summer is fun and fall is beautiful. It is its own gift to enjoy and not the destruction of the season before it. This is true not only in the physical sense of the world but also in the sense that while I can no longer have a conversation with my mom, I can embrace how much she loved me while she was here. My new thought can be, Because I am missing her, this is a sign that I know she still loves me. Love is the thread that weaves through all seasons in life and all changes that come.

Reflection and Renewal

As the sun sets earlier and the air grows crisper, I now use this time of seasonal change to reflect on the months gone by and the ones yet to come. Each page of my journal becomes a mirror that reflects my hopes, fears, and desires. Through the act of reflection, I find myself renewed, ready to embrace the journey that lies ahead with a newfound sense of purpose and clarity.

In the gentle embrace of September, I invite you to join me on this journey of slowing down, journaling, and seeking inner wisdom. Let us pause, breathe, and allow the beauty of the changing seasons to guide us towards a deeper understanding of ourselves. Embrace the magic of this transformative month, and let your inner wisdom shine brightly amidst the falling leaves.
